Lashenden Air Warfare Museum is situated on Headcorn (Lashenden) Airfield. As well as visiting the Museum it is worth looking at some of the other activities on the airfield itself. It can be a very rewarding day out for all the family particularly in the Summer.

Headcorn (Lashenden) Airfield is a particularly active airfield particularly at weekends in the period from April to October. During this time Aero Legends dual seat Spitfires can be seen on many weekends, and occasionally during the week. Headcorn Parachute club and Skydive Headcorn are also based here and operate whenever the weather is favourable. The Wing Walk Company fly from here on many weekends during the summer months for those wanting to wing walk on a Stearman Biplane. There are also occasionally balloon flights at weekends that fly usually first thing in the morning during the summer and sometimes in the evening. Please note all these activities are subject to the weather.


Refreshments can be obtained at the Holding Point Café or Wings Bar on the airfield.

The Museum is located at the eastern end of the airfield adjacent to the main green/blue hangar (Hangar Tours available, ask at the Museum).

Headcorn (Lashenden) Airfield is situated on the A274 1 mile from the the village of Headcorn, 9 miles from Maidstone, Tenterden, Ashford & junction 8 of the M20.

By Road

From Maidstone take the A274 towards Tenterden after passing through Headcorn Village, the airfield will be on your left, follow the brown tourist signs.

From Ashford take the A28 to its junction with the A274 (signposted Biddenden & Headcorn) after leaving Biddenden the airfield will be on the right (aproximately 3 miles), follow the brown tourist signs.

From junction 8 of the M20 take the B2163 to its junction with the A274 at the Plough pub. Turn left on to the A274 towards Tenterden after passing through Headcorn Village, the airfield will be on your left, follow the brown tourist signs.

The car park is situated approximately 300 metres down the road signposted to Smarden. Coach parties are welcome with prior consent. All vehicles and their contents are parked on airfield property at the risk of the vehicle owner. Please note that a £2.00 parking token scheme operates on the the airfield, tokens are available at the Museum as well as other places on the site.

By Bus

Service 12 buses from Maidstone terminate at Headcorn railway station (Taxi available from the station).

By Air

Call Lashenden Air Traffic Control on frequency 122.210 (DO NOT OVERFLY Headcorn village).
